Painted and photographed imagery stems from observation—seeing marks left in a landscape, remnants, fragments, the evidence of passing time, emptiness, memory.
Forms suggest houses, airplanes, towers, the circus—a trapeze artist lets go of one bar before taking hold of the other, objects fall against the sky, the space between things becomes the focus.
Color and simple drawn elements are paired with the grounded space of horizon lines, landscape and architecture.
Painting surfaces are built by glazing many thin layers of oil & pigment mixed with marble dust. Select areas are then sanded away leaving ghost marks and faint stains that create a sense of depth.
